Gusau kidnap syndicate fears have gripped residents after a viral video surfaced showing a staff member of a popular restaurant allegedly confessing to involvement in local abductions.

The video, which quickly spread across social media, features an employee of  Yan Doto Food Palace, situated near the Zamfara Government House, claiming ties to a kidnap ring terrorising the Mareri area.

The confession has sent shockwaves through Gusau, raising concerns over how such criminal activity could exist so close to high-security zones.

Reacting swiftly, the Zamfara State Youth Association issued a statement describing the situation as “deeply disturbing.” The group’s president, Alhaji Ibrahim Abba, called the incident a wake-up call for both residents and authorities.

“This is a serious matter,” Abba said. “That a restaurant near the Government House could harbour such activity is alarming. It calls the efficiency of surveillance into question.”

He urged the Nigeria Police Force and the DSS to carry out a full investigation, including searching suspected hideouts and tracking collaborators.

Abba also called on locals to stay vigilant, especially in public spaces where criminal elements may disguise themselves as workers or patrons.

As of the time of reporting, no official comment has been made by the relevant security agencies. However, public pressure continues to mount, with civil society groups calling for swift justice and tighter urban security protocols.
