Imo Police Major Raid That Led to 75 Arrests and Gun Seizures
Imo Police 75 arrests crime crackdown sees 75 suspects detained, AK-47 rifles recovered, and intensified operations across the state
The Imo State Police Command has arrested 75 suspects linked to kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, murder and other criminal activities in a sweeping statewide security operation.

The Imo Police 75 arrests crime crackdown was announced by Commissioner of Police Audu Garba Bosso during a briefing at the Command Headquarters in Owerri, where he also paraded the suspects and highlighted recent operational gains.
Bosso said the arrests were made over the past month through coordinated intelligence-driven operations conducted in collaboration with other security agencies and local stakeholders across the state.
He stated that the sustained operations had significantly reduced the crime rate and improved safety for residents and visitors.
“I am pleased to report that as a result of these concerted efforts, the crime wave in the State has drastically reduced,” Bosso said.
According to him, officers recovered three AK-47 rifles, three magazines, 65 rounds of live ammunition, two locally made pistols, one Beretta pistol and six stolen motorcycles during the operations.
He added that a suspected terrorist was neutralised during one of the engagements, while several weapons were also seized.
Bosso narrated that on 3 March, armed men attacked facilities belonging to Adapalm in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area, setting heavy machinery ablaze before engaging security operatives in a gun duel.
One suspect reportedly sustained gunshot injuries and later died in hospital, according to medical confirmation.
He further disclosed that on 14 March, operatives encountered fleeing suspects during surveillance patrols, resulting in another gun battle that forced the criminals to abandon weapons and escape with injuries.
In a separate counter-terrorism operation conducted between February and March, security forces reportedly overran a camp identified as “Mother Valley” in Orsu Local Government Area.
Bosso said operatives recovered more than 300 Improvised Explosive Devices, gas cylinders, galvanized pipes and five exotic vehicles during the raid, while two terrorists were neutralised.
The police commissioner urged residents to continue providing credible intelligence to security agencies, stressing that community cooperation remains vital to sustaining recent gains.

He also assured the public of adequate security arrangements ahead of the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations in the state.
Police dismiss officers Anthony Obodo case has been confirmed as the Rivers State Police Command dismissed three of its officers linked to the killing of a 22-year-old University of Port Harcourt graduate, Anthony Obodo.
The State Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, disclosed this on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, while parading the three officers before journalists in Port Harcourt.
According to the command, the officers were linked to the incident that occurred last Thursday along Ada George in Port Harcourt, where Obodo was shot dead.
A member of the team, an inspector who fled after the shooting, has been declared a deserter.
CP Adepoju stated that the three arrested officers were subjected to an orderly room trial. Following the conclusion of the investigation and the establishment of their culpability, they have been dismissed from the Nigeria Police Force and will be charged to court.
“I am here to provide updates on some serious incidents recently recorded in the state, including the investigation into the death of one Anthony A. Obodo… Following the conclusion of the investigation and the establishment of the culpability of the officers involved… the officers being paraded today have been dismissed from the Nigeria Police Force and will be charged to court,” Adepoju said.
The commissioner noted that he understood the concerns of Obodo’s family and members of the public, adding that the Command has taken appropriate disciplinary action against the police personnel involved.
Obodo, a graduate of the University of Port Harcourt who was reportedly awaiting his NYSC call-up letter, was shot during a police pursuit.
