The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has formally commended former United States mayor Mark Arnold and members of the US Congress for their interventions concerning Nigeria, describing their actions as courageous and timely.

The pro-Biafra group, in a statement by its spokesman, Emma Powerful, highlighted Arnold’s Facebook post accusing the British government of opposing an independent Republic of Biafra to avoid paying $6 trillion in reparations for historical crimes.

IPOB also praised Congress members led by Riley Moore for campaigning against what they describe as ongoing Christian persecution in Nigeria.

IPOB reaffirmed its call for a United Nations-supervised referendum, warning that Nigeria, as presently constituted, is a failed state heading toward disaster.

The group credited its leader, Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, and the Eastern Security Network (ESN) for protecting the South-East from attacks that have claimed thousands of lives across other regions, including the Middle Belt, Southern Kaduna, Plateau, Benue, and Yorubaland.

“The Indigenous People of Biafra worldwide warmly commends Mr. Mark Arnold and the courageous members of the United States Congress for their timely and fearless intervention,” the statement read.

“Your bold stand has pierced the veil of international silence and complicity that has long shielded the systematic slaughter of Judeo-Christian communities across Nigeria.”

IPOB emphasised that all previous warnings from Kanu regarding insecurity and killings in Nigeria have materialised.

The statement called on Biafrans and justice advocates worldwide to intensify diplomatic efforts, maintaining that a peaceful referendum remains the only lawful and sustainable solution to the ongoing violence.

The group concluded by expressing gratitude to all supporters, noting that global awareness and advocacy have kept the quest for Biafra alive on the international stage.
