Kano State demolishes illegal buildings in Sharada Ja’en. Govt vows strict enforcement of urban planning laws and protection of public land

The Kano State Government has intensified its urban planning enforcement, demolishing illegal structures in Sharada Ja’en, Gwale Local Government Area.

The operation, led by the Ministry of Land and Physical Planning and supervised by Commissioner Abduljabbar Muhammad Umar, targeted commercial buildings constructed on land belonging to the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) without approval.

“The land is designated for recreational purposes, not commercial activities,” Umar stated. He emphasized that all future developments must comply with the Kano State Urban Planning and Development Authority (KNUPDA) guidelines.

The demolition is part of a broader urban renewal and land management programme, aimed at cleaning the city, protecting public land, and ensuring developments follow approved zoning and planning regulations. The ministry warned that monitoring will continue, and violators will face strict action.
