Deputy Commander-General of the board, Sheikh Mujahedeen Aminudeen, disclosed this in a telephone interview, stating that the exercise will involve 1,500 men and 1,500 women selected for the initiative.

Sheikh Mujahedeen Aminudeen explained that the screening is designed to assess the health status of all beneficiaries before their marriages are conducted under the programme.

According to him, the medical checks will include HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, genotype testing, and drug screening to ensure safety and compatibility among couples.

The Kano State Government, under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, is overseeing the mass wedding initiative, which is aimed at supporting vulnerable residents, including widows, divorcees, and unmarried women.

Sheikh Mujahedeen Aminudeen noted that participation in the medical screening is compulsory, adding that any selected couple who fails to comply will be disqualified from the programme.

He said the state government will also provide financial and material support to beneficiaries, including dowry payments and household essentials.

Each bride is expected to receive beds, mattresses, pillows, and a cash grant of ₦100,000 to support small-scale business ventures, alongside a similar dowry contribution from the government.

The initiative builds on earlier mass wedding programmes introduced in the state during previous administrations, aimed at reducing social and economic hardship among vulnerable groups.
