The directive was issued on Friday during the International Workers’ Day celebration held at the Sani Abacha Stadium, where the governor addressed civil servants across the state.

Governor Yusuf said the investigation became necessary following complaints of unauthorised deductions affecting workers’ earnings.

He assured civil servants that his administration remains committed to transparency, accountability, and the protection of workers’ welfare.

The governor stated that the probe would help establish the truth behind the alleged financial irregularities.

Yusuf also confirmed that Abdullahi Musa had been relieved of his duties, although no official details were provided at the time of dismissal.

He reiterated that his government would not tolerate any action that undermines public trust or affects workers’ income.

On retirees’ welfare, the governor pledged to clear outstanding gratuity and death benefits before the end of his first term in 2027.

He disclosed that ₦32 billion has already been paid out of a ₦48 billion backlog inherited from the previous administration.

Yusuf described the progress as part of ongoing efforts to restore dignity to retired civil servants.

Kano State Nigeria Labour Congress Chairman, Comrade Kabir Inuwa, commended the government for timely salary payments and efforts to settle outstanding entitlements.

He, however, urged the administration to address existing disparities between state and local government workers.
