Lagos Ipaja Road Accident Tricycles crash leaves about 10 injured after a Honda vehicle rammed into two tricycles along Ipaja Road on Monday

Several commuters sustained injuries on Monday morning, 18 May 2026, after a Honda vehicle reportedly rammed into two commercial tricycles at the Federal Bus Stop along Ipaja Road in Lagos State, Nigeria.

The incident, now described as the Lagos Ipaja Road Accident Tricycles crash, occurred at about 8:50 a.m. and involved a Honda car with registration number KTU 921 JY.

Eyewitnesses said approximately 10 passengers suffered varying degrees of injuries following the collision, which caused panic and disruption in the busy area.

According to accounts from the scene, the female driver of the Honda vehicle was allegedly driving at high speed when she attempted to avoid hitting a street sweeper attached to the Lagos Waste Management Authority, LAWMA.

Witnesses further alleged that the driver struck the sweeper before losing control of the vehicle, which then veered into the opposite lane and collided with two commercial tricycles.

Some of the victims reportedly sustained serious injuries, while others escaped with minor wounds as bystanders rushed to assist those affected.

An eyewitness report confirmed that injured passengers were initially taken to a nearby private hospital for emergency treatment before some were later transferred to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital for further medical attention.

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force from the Gowon Divisional Headquarters, alongside officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, and local security personnel, were deployed to the scene to manage rescue operations and control traffic.

As of the time of filing this report, authorities had yet to issue an official statement regarding the cause of the accident.
