The Assembly session is themed “Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations That Delivers for All.” High-level meetings on the calendar include the Sustainable Development Goals, climate action, pandemic response, racial justice and nuclear disarmament.

Organisers of Governor Dauda Lawal’s trip say the visit is meant to set out Zamfara State’s development priorities and to look for partners on security, economic growth, education, healthcare and sustainable development.

His programme is scheduled to begin on 18 September with a High-Level Executive Global Roundtable side event and the SDG Moment.

On 21 September, Governor Dauda Lawal is billed to speak at a high-level side event in the 81st session, convened by the United Nations Development Programme under the title “From Fragility to Opportunity: Locally Led Pathways to Peace, Resilience and Investment in Fragile Contexts.” That meeting is expected to launch the Northwest Peace, Security and Development Framework for 2026 to 2030 and to seek partners and money to put the framework into practice.

Other dates listed for the trip include the SDG Roundtable Discussion 2026, the Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting, the African-Caribbean High-Level Interactive Dialogue on influence and action, and the Nigeria Investment Forum.
