Carrick, who stepped in as interim manager following Ruben Amorim’s departure, has overseen a remarkable turnaround at Old Trafford, losing just two of his 14 matches in charge.

Under his leadership, Manchester United have stabilised performances and secured qualification for the UEFA Champions League, ensuring a top-five Premier League finish this season.

Shearer praised Carrick’s impact on both results and team morale, saying the former midfielder met all expectations set when he took over the role.

Speaking to Betfair, Shearer said Carrick had successfully improved the club’s atmosphere while delivering consistent results during a crucial period.

He added that it would be harsh to deny Carrick the opportunity to continue, especially after guiding the team back into Europe’s top competition.

According to Shearer, even a short-term contract with performance incentives would be a fair way to reward Carrick’s contribution while maintaining flexibility for the club.

Despite ongoing links to other managerial candidates, Carrick’s steady leadership and strong run of form have strengthened his case for a longer stay at Old Trafford.
