The actions form part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on abduction and related crimes.

In the first case, on February 3, a man identified as David O. was rescued from Tudun Amba, Lafia.

He had been abducted by a commercial motorcyclist while traveling from Lafia to Assakio. According to police, the motorcyclist diverted into a forest in Kireyi Village and forced the victim into hiding.

A patrol team, acting on intelligence, located the victim, although the suspect fled before the rescue. The victim reportedly escaped from the kidnappers’ hideout prior to police arrival.

In the second operation, officers from the Gitata Division arrested 28-year-old Jamilu Salisu, a resident of Ditsenma, Katsina State, for allegedly abducting a 14-year-old JSS2 student near a mosque in Gitata.

Acting on a tip-off from a bystander, police rescued the student from a forest near a riverbank. One accomplice remains at large.

Confirming the incidents, Police Public Relations Officer SP Ramhan Nansel stated that Commissioner of Police CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed has ordered an intensive manhunt for the fleeing suspect and directed comprehensive investigations into both cases.
