Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics, Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, the command’s Public Relations Officer, said the suspect was intercepted on 25 February 2026 after transporting the consignment from Abuja.

According to the NDLEA, the seized drugs were intended for local distribution and stockpiled for illicit consumption during the upcoming Sallah celebrations.

Bala admitted to transporting similar consignments for about two years and confirmed he received substantial payments for the illegal activity, indicating knowledge of its criminal nature.

Commanding Officer DY Lawal said the arrest highlights the agency’s commitment to protecting communities from harmful substances.
