The rescued victims, Alhaji Ladan Abubakar, 65, Basira Abubakar, 18, and Jamila Abubakar, 24, were taken on the night of February 5 after gunmen entered Aworo village via the Leaba area of Zugurma District. The kidnappers reportedly moved the victims into the National Park forest along the Zugurma axis.

A police team led by the Divisional Police Officer of Ibbi, in coordination with local vigilantes and hunters, traced the bandits to their hideout in the early hours of February 8. The operation resulted in a gun duel that forced the kidnappers to flee, enabling the safe release of all three victims.

Alhaji Ladan Abubakar sustained a gunshot injury to the head and was immediately taken to the Primary Health Care Centre in Ibbi, where he is reportedly responding to treatment.

Police authorities said intelligence gathering and security patrols have been intensified in the area to prevent further criminal activities and ensure the safety of residents.
