Lagos, December 4, 2025 – The marketing firm handling the sale of Nigeria’s presidential Boeing 737-700 Business Jet has withdrawn the aircraft from its listing, raising questions about its sale.

Laurie Barringer, Manager of Market Research at JetHQ, confirmed in an email to PUNCH that the aircraft is no longer listed and advised that further inquiries be directed to the Nigerian government.

“Thank you for your email. We no longer have the listing on the Boeing. You will need to reach out to the Nigerian Government for information as to what has become of the aircraft,” Barringer stated.

The delisting follows reports in October 2025 that the jet, first listed in July, remained unsold nearly four months later.

Previously, JetHQ had confirmed the aircraft was available, but further information was treated as proprietary.

Before its removal, records showed that the Boeing underwent partial refurbishment and inspections at the AMAC Basel facility in July 2024, including first-class seat refurbishment, cabin carpet replacement, and major C1–C2 inspections.

The aircraft, purchased in 2005 for $43 million during President Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration, is part of Nigeria’s Presidential Air Fleet.

The Tinubu administration announced its sale in July 2025 as part of cost-cutting and fleet rationalisation measures amid public scrutiny of government expenditure.

Pre-owned Boeing 737 BBJs carry an average market value of around $56 million, depending on configuration and maintenance records, according to aircraftcostcalculator.com.
