A 37-year-old Nigerian man, Ademola Oke, was found dead at his workplace in the United Kingdom on Friday, April 18, 2026, after colleagues discovered him unresponsive during a night shift, sparking grief within his family and the Nigerian community abroad.
Oke was reportedly in good health when he left home that morning and remained in contact with his wife throughout the day, including a WhatsApp message exchanged in the afternoon that suggested nothing was out of the ordinary.
The situation changed later in the evening when a colleague arriving for duty found him seated on a sofa at the workplace, unresponsive, prompting an immediate emergency call.
Emergency services attended the scene but confirmed him dead shortly after arrival, leaving colleagues and loved ones in shock over the sudden nature of the incident.
Family friend Adejonwo Odutola, who shared details in a fundraising appeal, described Oke as a devoted husband and father of two young children aged six and two, noting the emotional and financial strain his passing has placed on the family.
The tragedy has left his 31-year-old wife devastated as she now faces the responsibility of raising their children alone.
A GoFundMe campaign has since been launched to support funeral arrangements and assist the family in the difficult transition ahead, with donations gradually coming in from sympathisers.
Odutola described Oke as a loving family man whose loss has deeply affected relatives, friends, and members of the Nigerian diaspora community in the UK.
As of the time of reporting, the fundraising appeal had raised £4,509 toward its £8,000 target.
