Nigerian workers hardship NNPP warning highlights concerns over inflation, transport costs and economic pressure, urging better policies and relief measures

The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has expressed concern over the worsening economic conditions facing Nigerian workers, warning that rising inflation and escalating living costs are placing severe pressure on households nationwide.

The Nigerian workers hardship NNPP warning comes as the party marked Workers’ Day, drawing attention to what it described as the daily struggle of workers contending with food inflation, high transport fares, energy costs, and general economic instability.

In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Ladipo Johnson, the party said the NNPP leadership, led by National Chairman Bala Yunusa Mohammed, extends solidarity to Nigerian workers while recognising their resilience in sustaining the country’s productivity despite difficult conditions.

The party described Nigerian workers as “heroic” for continuing to keep the economy functioning amid what it termed persistent economic headwinds and rising cost-of-living pressures.

However, the NNPP stressed that resilience alone should not replace meaningful economic improvement, arguing that workers deserve a system that delivers prosperity in return for their efforts.

The party further called on workers to recognise their collective political influence ahead of the next electoral cycle, urging greater participation in shaping leadership choices that prioritise economic relief and improved living standards.

It also advocated for policies that strengthen social safety nets, reduce inflationary pressure, and improve infrastructure to ease the burden on citizens.

The NNPP reaffirmed its commitment to advocating for what it described as a “New Nigeria,” where workers’ efforts are matched with improved quality of life and stronger economic support systems.

The statement concluded with a call for workers to translate their numbers into political influence by supporting leaders who prioritise economic reform and national development.
