The incident was confirmed by NSCDC spokesman ASC Badaruddeen Tijjani on Saturday in Dutse.

The deceased officer, Superintendent Bashir Adamu-Jibril, who served in the Department of Intelligence and Investigation, was reportedly attacked by hoodlums wielding machetes at Shuwarin market in Kiyawa Local Government while on official duty.

The 45-year-old suspect, a resident of Shuwarin Town, was arrested on August 7 following credible intelligence about his involvement.

However, during transport to command headquarters, the suspect escaped from handcuffs, jumped from the speeding vehicle, and sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at Dutse General Hospital.
