Sunday Oliseh praises Super Eagles trio Osimhen, Lookman, and Adams but warns Nigeria must prepare for future World Cup qualifiers

Former Nigeria captain and coach Sunday Oliseh has lauded the attacking prowess of Super Eagles forwards Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, and Akor Adams, noting their combined 51 goals this season for club and country.

Osimhen scored 28 goals for Galatasaray, Adams netted 12 for Sevilla, while Lookman added 11 for Atletico Madrid. Despite their impressive output, Oliseh highlighted a worrying trend for the national team.

“The attacking talent is clear, but we still face significant hurdles as we approach the 2030 World Cup qualifiers,” Oliseh said during his appearance on Global Football Insights With Oliseh.

The former two-time World Cup participant stressed that while the trio is dismantling defences in Europe, the national team requires structural improvements. “Even the finest fuel is ineffective if the engine is malfunctioning,” he added.

Oliseh further urged the Nigeria Football Federation to begin long-term planning, warning that many current squad members may not be available for the next World Cup.

He commended the trio’s individual performances but emphasised the importance of team cohesion and forward planning to secure Nigeria’s future in global football.
