Olómú Festival gains strong backing as Ito Omu prepares a major eco cultural celebration for 2026

Coordinator of the Olómú Festival, Olori Ololade Oshin, today announced that traditional rulers, community leaders, and local stakeholders in Ito Omu have given strong backing to the Olómú Festival, confirming plans for the maiden 2026 edition of the eco cultural celebration.

The Olómú Festival will promote environmental awareness, cultural preservation, and local development within the Epe Division of Lagos State.

Olori Ololade Oshin explained that the festival was conceived to showcase the cultural heritage of Ito Omu, strengthen environmental consciousness, and stimulate economic opportunities for residents.

She noted that the community’s fertile farmlands, vibrant cultural identity, and expansive wetlands provide the ideal foundation for an annual celebration capable of attracting domestic and international visitors.

The coordinator highlighted the unified support of the Lagos State Government, the Lagos State Waterways Authority, Epe Local Government, and revered traditional rulers.

His Royal Majesty Oba Kamorudeen Animashaun, Oloja of Epe; Oba Taiwo Yusuff Gbadamosi, Onitoomu of Ito Omu Ancient Town; and Oba Nurudeen Ebudola Alugbin, Oniladaba of Ladaba, all endorsed the 2026 edition, describing it as a catalyst for cultural revival and sustainable tourism.

According to Olori Ololade Oshin, Ito Omu’s natural assets, including forested landscapes, interconnected creeks, and protected wetlands, form a significant platform for eco tourism.

She added that the community’s peaceful reputation and strong grassroots governance make it well positioned to benefit from ongoing infrastructural expansion across the Epe corridor.

A boat regatta added a lively highlight during the announcement, offering attendees an entertaining preview of the vibrant cultural experience the festival intends to deliver.

As preparations progress, Olori Ololade Oshin extended an open invitation to corporate sponsors, development partners, and private sector organisations to participate.
