Okan Buruk provides Osimhen injury update, hinting the striker could return early from injury and feature soon for Galatasaray after surgery

Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk has provided an encouraging update on Victor Osimhen’s recovery, suggesting the striker could return to action earlier than initially expected following his recent injury setback.

The Nigeria international underwent surgery two weeks ago after sustaining an arm injury during Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League clash against Liverpool.

He was originally ruled out until the end of the month.

However, Buruk revealed that Osimhen has resumed light training activities and has begun running again as part of his rehabilitation process with the physiotherapy team.

According to the coach, the forward may be in contention for a return to the squad in the coming weeks, potentially featuring in Galatasaray’s fixture against Gençlerbirliği.

“He has started running again. It will be difficult for him to return this weekend, but I think he could be included in the squad for the Gençlerbirliği match,” Buruk said.

“He will play the following week if conditions are right,” he added.

Osimhen’s progress will be closely monitored as Galatasaray aim to maintain their momentum in the league following a 3-1 victory over Göztepe on Wednesday night, a result that strengthens their push for a third consecutive league title.
