The encounter in Paris saw goals from Désiré Doué and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia secure a valuable advantage for the French champions, who will now travel to England for the decisive second leg next week.

Following the match, PSG forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance but acknowledged that more goals could have been scored. Speaking to Canal+, he noted that the side created several opportunities and must remain focused ahead of a challenging atmosphere in Liverpool.

His teammate, Warren Zaïre-Emery, echoed similar sentiments, describing the result as positive while stressing that the tie is far from over. He emphasised the need for consistency and determination as PSG prepare for the return leg.

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk, in his own post-match assessment on TNT Sports, described the game as physically demanding and noted the defensive effort required to contain PSG’s attacking threats.

He highlighted that the opening goal, which came via a deflection, proved difficult to manage.

Van Dijk admitted disappointment with the result but maintained that the tie remains open, pointing to the second leg at Anfield as an opportunity for Liverpool to respond and attempt a turnaround in front of their home supporters.
