Osimhen Injury Update shows the striker is set to return to full training with Galatasaray ahead of the Intercontinental Derby against Fenerbahçe

Galatasaray and Nigeria international striker Victor Osimhen is set to return to full training on 20 April 2026 at the club’s facilities in Istanbul, following a recovery period from a forearm injury sustained during a UEFA Champions League fixture against Liverpool, Turkish outlet Aksam Newspaper reported on Monday.

The Osimhen Injury Update offers a timely boost to Galatasaray as the forward is expected to be available for selection ahead of the highly anticipated Intercontinental Derby against Fenerbahçe, scheduled for six days after his return to training.

The fixture is regarded as one of the most intense and competitive matches in Turkish football.

Victor Osimhen underwent surgery last month after suffering the injury during the European clash, and he has since been in rehabilitation while working towards full fitness.

His absence has been felt by the team, particularly in recent domestic matches where attacking sharpness was noticeably reduced.

Galatasaray experienced a setback last weekend with a 2-1 defeat to title rivals Trabzonspor, a result that further highlighted the impact of missing key personnel.

The return of Victor Osimhen is therefore seen as a significant and encouraging development for the squad as they look to regain momentum in the league.

Despite the injury layoff, Victor Osimhen has enjoyed a productive season, recording 19 goals and seven assists in 29 appearances across all competitions.

His contributions have been vital to Galatasaray’s campaign, reinforcing his importance to the team’s attacking structure.

Club officials and supporters will now be hopeful that his return to full training translates into a swift return to match fitness, with the upcoming derby presenting an opportunity for a powerful comeback on one of the biggest stages in Turkish football.
