Otunba Gbenga Daniel’s condolence message honors the life and legacy of Deaconess Bolajoko Idowu, mother of media veteran Otunba Femi Davies, describing her as a beacon of faith and character

Former Ogun State Governor and Senator representing Ogun East, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has sent a heartfelt condolence message to veteran media practitioner Otunba Femi Davies following the passing of his beloved mother, Deaconess Bolajoko Idowu (née Showemimo).

The distinguished matriarch passed away on Friday, July 4, 2025, at the age of 78.

In a deeply emotional tribute, Otunba Gbenga Daniel condolence message described the late Deaconess as “a beacon of strength, faith, and dignity” whose nurturing presence extended far beyond her immediate family.

“Your mother was more than a vessel of life; she was a beacon of strength, faith, and dignity. Her grace illuminated every path she walked, and her character left lasting impressions on all privileged to encounter her,” Daniel wrote.

He further encouraged Femi Davies to take solace in the impactful and God-fearing life his mother led, stating that she has now found eternal rest embraced by divine peace.

The condolence message from Otunba Daniel is among many tributes pouring in from notable Nigerians across different walks of life, including politicians, entertainers, and business leaders.

Other dignitaries who have mourned the loss include Senator Ganiu Olanrewaju Solomon, Fuji legends K1 De Ultimate and Pasuma Wonder, Afro-Juju pioneer Sir Shina Peters, philanthropist Engr. Toyin Omotosho, and community leaders such as Alhaji Lukman Hamzat and Chief Adewale Adeshina.

Many described the late Deaconess as a woman of unwavering Christian faith, grace, and rare influence whose positive impact in her community will remain evergreen.

The funeral rites for Deaconess Bolajoko Idowu begin with a Service of Songs on Thursday, July 24, at Christ Baptist Church, Akowonjo, Lagos, and will be followed by a burial service and interment the next day.

A grand reception will hold at the Conference Hotel, Abeokuta.
