Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has emerged as the world’s highest-spending football manager since joining the Etihad Stadium in 2016, according to transfer data from Capology and Transfermarkt.

Since his appointment ahead of the 2016–17 season, Guardiola has invested approximately €2.05 billion in player recruitment, surpassing every other top manager in the same period.

His first season alone saw City spend over €190 million, bringing in talents such as Ilkay Gundogan, Leroy Sane, John Stones, Claudio Bravo, and Gabriel Jesus.

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone ranks second, having spent around €1.22 billion, including major signings like Joao Felix, Julian Alvarez, and Thomas Lemar.

Antonio Conte follows in third place with €1.19 billion, while Massimiliano Allegri and Thomas Tuchel are fourth and fifth, each spending €1.17 billion.

Other notable managers in the top ten include Unai Emery (€1.13bn), Mikel Arteta (€1.09bn), Erik ten Hag (€1.07bn), Eddie Howe (€1.01bn), and Nuno Espirito Santo (€985m).

This list positions Guardiola well ahead of renowned figures such as Jurgen Klopp, Jose Mourinho, and Mauricio Pochettino.
