Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola recorded an unwanted milestone on Wednesday as his team suffered a 3-0 defeat to Real Madrid in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.

The match, held at the Santiago Bernabeu, saw Federico Valverde score all three goals, giving the Spanish giants a commanding advantage ahead of the return leg next week.
According to OptaJoe, the 3-0 loss represents Guardiola’s joint-heaviest first-leg defeat in a Champions League knockout tie.
He previously endured similar losses against Barcelona in the 2014-15 semi-finals and Liverpool in the 2017-18 quarter-finals.
Following the setback, Manchester City will turn their focus to domestic competition as they prepare to face West Ham United in the Premier League this weekend.
