Chairman of Sifax Group, Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, has praised Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Dapo Abiodun, and the people of Ogun State for the successful construction and commissioning of the Gateway International Airport.
Dr. Afolabi described the airport project as a major achievement that will stimulate economic growth, attract more investors, and strengthen Ogun State’s position as one of Nigeria’s leading commercial and industrial centres.
Speaking with Quadri Olowolagba, the Sifax Group chairman said the commissioning of the airport and the launch of Gateway Air mark a significant step toward improving transportation, trade, and tourism across the state.
According to him, the project will ease the movement of people and goods while also creating thousands of employment opportunities for residents, especially young people seeking jobs.
Dr. Afolabi further noted that the airport, cargo terminal, and other supporting facilities commissioned by President Tinubu will greatly boost business activities in the state. He explained that sectors such as logistics, hospitality, aviation, agriculture, and real estate are expected to benefit immensely from the development.
He added that the new infrastructure will also create fresh opportunities for both local and international investors looking to establish businesses in Ogun State.
The Sifax boss also commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for his commitment to infrastructural development and visionary leadership. He said the governor has consistently shown determination in executing projects that will have lasting impact on the lives of the people.
Dr. Afolabi noted that the governor’s emphasis on roads, electricity, agriculture, security, and transportation is in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government.
President Tinubu was in Ogun State to commission the Gateway International Airport and unveil Gateway Air as part of the state government’s development efforts. Other projects commissioned include the airport cargo facility, the 30MW Independent Power Plant at Onijanganjangan near Ewekoro, major roads such as the Ilishan-Iperu Road, Sagamu-Iperu-Ode Remo-Sapade Road, and the Gateway International Airport Road, as well as security vehicles, ambulances, tractors, and electric bikes.
Dr. Afolabi stressed that the airport project will further boost Ogun State’s reputation as a leading industrial destination and improve the ease of doing business within the state.
He urged residents to support the government by protecting the newly commissioned infrastructure, expressing confidence that the project will create long-term prosperity, reduce unemployment, and improve the standard of living across Ogun State.
