Rotimi Amaechi, former Minister of Transport, pledges to reveal how Nigerian politicians rig elections and promises to defeat President Tinubu in 2027 if he wins the ADC presidential ticket
Former Minister of Transport and ex-Rivers State governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has declared his intent to expose election rigging in Nigeria if he secures the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 elections.
Amaechi, who recently defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) after losing the 2023 APC presidential primaries to Bola Tinubu, said he would reveal the inner workings of political rigging once he wins the ADC ticket.
Speaking on X Spaces on Saturday, Amaechi emphasized that he has never engaged in election rigging and refused to participate in APC’s election planning committees due to their corrupt nature.
“I challenge any politician, living or dead, to come forward and say I was part of rigging. I have refused all appointments to election committees because I know what they discuss,” he said.
He promised to serve only one term of four years as president if elected, ensuring the presidency returns to the North in 2031.
Amaechi further stated that state governors and government agencies play significant roles in rigging and pledged to work against such malpractice if elected president.
Regarding his 2023 loss in Rivers State, he claimed that Labour Party’s Peter Obi actually won the state but the official results did not reflect that.
On ADC’s internal elections, Amaechi promised to fully support any candidate emerging from a free and fair primary to unseat President Tinubu.
“If the ADC primary is free and fair, whoever wins will have my full support to defeat this clueless government,” he declared.
