Following the demise of Prophet Temitope Joshua, popularly known as TB Joshua, founder of the Synagogue Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) on June 5, 2021, the church has been battling with a leadership crisis that halted worship activities in the ministry.
The alleged leadership tussle had led to the eviction of some disciples of the late prophet who hitherto antagonized the decision of Evelyn Joshua (wife) to lead the affairs of the Church.
Justice Tijjani Ringim gave the judgment in line with the church’s constitution which allowed a minimum of three trustees for the church.
Addressing members and partners on Monday as SCOAN leader, Evelyn noted that the journey has not been easy since the demise of her late husband.
Evelyn called for support and prayers from members and followers of the ministry to ensure that the church continues from where TB Joshua stopped.
She said, “Emmanuel! God is with us. My name is Evelyn Joshua, I am pleased to address you at this moment upon my appointment as the lease of the Synagogue Church Of All Nations (SCOAN).
“To all our members, partners, friends, and compatriots in faith, I say good morning and win today. It has been three months since the glorious home call of our dear father founder and General Overseer, Senior Prophet, Temitope Balogun Joshua which occurred on the 5th of June 2021.
“These past three months have surely been challenging but we thank you all for been strong and for keeping the faith as we have been building, trained and instructed by the servant of God that trials are the soil upon which faith flourishes.
“Today like others is a new dawn in the SCOAN. As we all know, Prophet TB Joshua fought a good fight of the kingdom and finished strong to the glory of God.
“We have now commenced the journey from where our father left. He had already prepared us all for this new phase and we must rise up to the occasion as a team under the command of God and the direction of the Holy Spirit. This journey is for us all, SCOAN cannot be without you – all the members, partners and friends of the ministry
“This now serves as a clarion call for you all to rise as an army of God as we push this great commission forward. I am not your General Overseer, my dear husband and our father, the prophet of generations senior prophet TB Joshua remains the founder and General Overseer of SCOAN.
“Like my beloved husband used to say, let love lead. Today, I represent the symbol of that love even as he continues to reside by the right hand of his maker. I am only a servant who only by the direction of the Holy Spirit, will team up with you all to direct the affairs of this great ministry.
“We will work, pray, fight the fight of faith together win together so that we all can inherit the everlasting home together. I know that we all have missed the congregation of our brethren for the past one and a half years but let me assure you that as God leads, we shall all soon converge again and worship God together as a family. So watch out.
“There is no gainsaying the fact that I and the entire team need your prayers, support, encouragement, and advice all at this time. The duty is much, the burden is heavy but we will all cast them onto Jesus who has already given us the promise of his help.
“I thank you once again for the love and support you have shown to this ministry and senior prophet TB Joshua for the past years but if there is anytime to show that love more, the time is now. Let me still assure you that God is always with us. Emmanuel”!
Governor Dauda Lawal has approved a 120-day Rapid Intervention Action Plan aimed at addressing systemic failures in Zamfara State’s education sector.
The Governor presided over the State Executive Council meeting on Monday at the Government House in Gusau, where key decisions were taken.
During deliberations at the 65th Council meeting, issues related to education, health, works, and other sectors were discussed and approved.
The Council endorsed a 120-day rapid intervention plan built on prior diagnostic activities conducted by the Ministry of Education and the Education Quality Assurance Agency (EQAA). The plan, presented by the overseeing Commissioner for Education, Abdulmalik Abubakar Gajam, includes payroll audits, school mapping exercises, and infrastructure assessments. It proposes targeted, time-bound interventions across governance, infrastructure, digital transformation, teacher development, and student welfare.
The Council also approved the formation of a joint committee to immediately assess all illegal or unapproved structures built around schools in the state, with a view to relocating them and securing school environments. The committee will be led by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MOEST).
Additionally, the Council approved a single, unified Education Sector Bill (covering Early Childhood Care Development Education to Tertiary level), to be developed in consultation with stakeholders including agencies, institutions, civil society, traditional rulers, and development partners. A draft bill will be presented to the State House of Assembly for enactment within the emergency timeframe.
The Governor further approved the transfer of non-teaching staff—such as messengers, labourers, gardeners, cooks, guards, drivers, health workers, and artisans—from the Ministry’s payroll to appropriate MDAs (CPG, MoH, Establishment) or private firms.
Among other important issues, the Council approved the composition of the Zamfara State Steering Committee on the State of Emergency on Education and authorised the Committee to constitute a Technical Working Group (TWG) and co-opt stakeholders including the NUT, UNICEF, UBEC, traditional and religious leaders, private school proprietors, and CSOs.
