Senator Husain made the declaration at the Osun State APC Secretariat in Osogbo on Tuesday, in the presence of the State Chairman, Hon. Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, top party officials, local government chairmen, and grassroots stakeholders.

In his address, Senator Husain, who has previously served as:

Two-term House of Representatives member (Oshodi/Isolo Federal Constituency, Lagos)
Senator representing Osun West
Federal Commissioner, National Population Commission

…described his gubernatorial ambition as “a bold step” to not only reposition Osun State for inclusive development but also consolidate APC’s strength ahead of Tinubu’s 2027 reelection.

“My ambition is service-driven and poised to align Osun State to the transformative Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu,” Husain said. “It is in furtherance of the progressive ideals we hold dear as a party.”

He added:

“From my days in Lagos where Asiwaju Bola Tinubu prepared to return me for a third term, to my sanctioned return to Osun where I served as Senator, my journey has been about humility, loyalty, and service. Today, I stand ready to lead Osun with Irọrun De—an all-inclusive agenda that restores dignity, ease, and prosperity to our dear state.”

The Ejigbo-born politician stressed that while all APC aspirants are qualified, his deep experience, unwavering loyalty, and unifying presence make him uniquely suited to lead Osun in this critical period.

He promised a campaign centered on:

  •  Party unity
  •  Grassroots engagement
  •  Development-focused policies

“I am committed to a harmonious, issue-based campaign that brings our party together and makes the APC the people’s choice by 2026,” Husain said.

APC State Chairman Hon. Tajudeen Lawal commended Husain’s declaration, calling it “a bold and resilient step.”

“We encourage you to run a peaceful, issue-driven campaign. Our party is committed to ensuring a level playing ground where the best candidate emerges,” Lawal assured.

Other speakers at the event included:

  1. Hon. Bade Falade (former Reps member)
  2. Alh. Hassan Olaniyi (former Chairman, Ejigbo LGA)

They described Husain as “Ejigbo’s golden son,” urging the APC leadership to rally behind him for his integrity, capacity, and proven progressive ideals.

With this declaration, Senator Mudashiru Husain officially joins the race as a frontline contender for the Osun APC ticket, and positions himself as:

  1.  A rallying point for internal party unity
  2.  A tested leader to challenge the PDP
  3.  A strategic pillar for President Tinubu’s 2027 reelection campaign
