Adeleke agriculture criticism

Former Senator Mudashiru Husain has criticized the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, for allegedly neglecting the agricultural sector and food security in the state

A former federal lawmaker representing Osun West Senatorial District, Senator Mudashiru Husain, has taken a swipe at the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun for paying little attention to food security in the state.

This comes as he commended former House of Representatives aspirant, Engr. Ayodele Asalu, for his commitment to food security through regular agricultural interventions in support of the people of the state.

The former Federal Commissioner of the National Population Commission, who spoke at another edition of the Ayodele Asalu Mega Empowerment, berated the state government for neglecting the agricultural sector, while lampooning its “audio” tractor purchase which, according to him, never saw the light of day.

According to him, “With the humongous allocations coming from the Federation Account owing to the removal of fuel subsidy, one would expect an agrarian state like Osun to have attracted a revolutionary intervention in its agricultural sector by the state government, with a view to alleviating the suffering of the masses.

All we see are ‘audio’ tractors flying on social media without such in reality.

“It’s saddening enough that nothing has been practically done in this sector since the inception of Adeleke’s administration, even despite budgetary allocations for the sector and how Osun people are grappling with food security.

No government that cares about the welfare of its people leaves the agricultural sector under-prioritised,” he said.

Senator Mudashiru Husain, while eulogising the facilitator of the empowerment programme, Hon. Ayodele Asalu Asler, for his commitment to human capital development, commended him for investing heavily in the agricultural revolution and food security, describing him as “God-sent” to Ejigbo Local Government in particular, Ede Federal Constituency, and Osun State in general.

No government that cares about the welfare of its people leaves the agricultural sector under-prioritised.

“Ayodele Asalu Asler’s commitment and contribution to agriculture and humanity cannot be overlooked.

He has been doing things and facilitating initiatives to boost food production and enhance food security in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda,” Senator Husain said.

Senator Husain, while congratulating the beneficiaries, admonished them to make good use of the inputs to increase food production, stating that it is the only way Asalu’s investment would yield multiple returns in the coming years.

In his remarks, the facilitator of the empowerment, Hon. Ayodele Asalu, maintained that the initiative was a direct contribution to the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the area of agriculture and food security.

He urged all beneficiaries of these kind gestures to make good use of them (agrochemicals, fertilisers, and spraying machines) and intensify their support for the APC-led Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.

While speaking, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in the state, Hon. Tajudeen Lawal Sooko, congratulated Ejigbo for having sons and daughters who have the love of the ancient town at heart.

He commended Asalu Asler for his investment in agriculture and urged the beneficiaries to translate this gesture into support for the APC.

In their separate remarks, the Osun West Senatorial Leader, Hon. Akintola Omolaoye; Ede Federal Constituency Leader, Pa Gbadebo Ajao; former Ejigbo Council Chairman, Alhaji Hassan Olaniyi; and former OSSIEC Commissioner, Prince Tunde Ajiboye, all took turns to heap praises on Ayodele Asalu for all he has been doing for the advancement of the party, while canvassing support for the APC in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.
