Soludo Declares School-Free Day in Anambra to mark the 2025 World Teachers’ Day, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to valuing educators and strengthening the state’s education system.

The announcement was made on Monday by the Commissioner for Education, PNgozi Chuma-Udeh**, who confirmschool-free day across all schools in Anambra.

According to the commissioner, the governor’s decision follows the fact that **World Teachers’ Day**, traditionally held on 5 October, fell on a Sunday this year. The observance was shifted to the following Tuesday to ensure full participation.

In her words, “Mr Governor has approved Tuesday as a school-free day to celebrate and honour teachers across the state.”

As part of the commemoration, the Solution Parents League and the Association of Private School Owners will stage a mega endorsement m in support of Governor Soludo’s widely praised educational reforms.

Participants—including teachers, school proprietors and parents—are expected to converge at Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, by 8:00 a.m.] where festivities will honour those at the heart of the education sector.

This year’s World Teachers’ Day has reignited discussions on the welfare of Nigerian teachers. Across the country, union leaders and stakeholders have called for more action on policy promises, including the mplementation of the 65-year retirement age, improved wages, and the provision of better classroom facilities.

Teachers have insisted that their role in nation-building must be matched with tangible support from government at all levels.

By declaring a public holiday for teachers, Soludo not only celebrates their efforts but also sends a powerful message about the future direction of education in Anambra State.
