The former Nigerian Bar Association President spoke firmly in Port Harcourt, stressing that the Rivers House of Assembly should direct its energy towards rebuilding the state rather than embarking on a divisive investigation.

Okocha pointed out that Ibas was appointed by President Bola Tinubu to serve a specific task during a delicate period.

“He did not report to the lawmakers, and pursuing a probe could be mistaken as a witch-hunt,” he said.

He emphasised that honour and respect should be accorded to Ibas for his service and called for stronger collaboration between the executive, legislature, and judiciary.

“In order for Rivers State to thrive, there must be harmonious relationships among all branches of government,” Okocha added.

The former NBA leader’s powerful appeal comes amid ongoing calls for scrutiny of Ibas’s tenure following Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s suspension.

Okocha’s view underlines the urgent need for stability and constructive governance to move Rivers forward.
