Disu took over from Kayode Egbetokun during a handing-over ceremony in Abuja after being decorated with his new rank at the State House.

Okiro noted that Disu’s previous roles as Commissioner of Police in Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) likely influenced the President’s decision.

“He worked as the Commissioner of Police in Rivers and the FCT, and I believe he did his job perfectly; that is why the President appointed him,” Okiro said.

The former IGP added that Disu faces significant challenges ahead, particularly addressing the poor state of the Nigeria Police Force.

“He has a lot before him, one of which is the state of the police. The state of the police is very low. I praise him and wish him well, as I know him, to face these problems headlong. Nigerians will be happy in the end,” he said.
