Tolu Arokodare scored and assisted in Wolves’ 6-1 FA Cup win over Shrewsbury, helping the club reach the fourth round

Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare marked a dream FA Cup debut for Wolverhampton Wanderers by scoring and assisting in just 16 minutes during their 6-1 demolition of League Two side Shrewsbury Town on Saturday.

Arokodare entered the match in the 74th minute and quickly made his presence felt, completing the scoring for Wolves after Jørgen Strand Larsen had ended his 13-game goal drought with a hat-trick.

Jhon Arias and Rodrigo Gomes also found the net as the hosts surged into the fourth round of the competition.

The Nigerian forward took to social media after the victory to express optimism for the next stage, posting “Next round” as Wolves await Monday’s fourth-round draw at Anfield, ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Barnsley. The matches are scheduled for the weekend of February 14.

Wolves have shown signs of revival in the Premier League this year, with two wins, including a 3-0 triumph over West Ham at Molineux.

Arokodare played 88 minutes in that match and highlighted the collective effort and fan support as pivotal to the turnaround.

“The type of performance we needed to start the new year, with every single fan at Molineux behind us. Let’s go,” Arokodare posted on X.

A key factor in Arokodare’s impact has been his physical dominance. Against West Ham, he won eight of 12 aerial duels and five of six ground challenges, according to Molineux News, giving Wolves a significant advantage in advanced areas.

His strength and movement have added a new dimension to the club’s attack, complementing their preferred striker, Strand Larsen, who has drawn transfer interest.

With momentum building in both cup and league competitions, Wolves will look to maintain their resurgence as Arokodare continues to make a decisive impact.
