The UNIJOS lecturers strike unpaid salary action was confirmed by the Chairman of the institution’s branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Professor Jurbe Molwus, who said members would not resume work until salaries are paid.

“We are on strike, and we are not going to work until we are paid,” Molwus said in Jos.

He stated that the industrial action took effect immediately on Wednesday, following the expiration of patience over the delayed payment.

In a statement issued to members, ASUU University of Jos expressed disappointment over the salary delay, blaming the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation for the disruption.

The union directed lecturers to withdraw from lectures, examinations, and statutory meetings until further notice.

It explained that the decision followed existing congress resolutions and national executive council directives guiding industrial action.

According to the statement, the UNIJOS lecturers strike unpaid salary situation arose despite claims that the university’s bursary department had completed all necessary processing steps.

The union described the delay as a growing threat to industrial harmony and warned that patience should not be taken for granted.

ASUU also activated a strike monitoring team to ensure full compliance with the directive across departments.
