A Nigerian woman finds a giant scorpion while checking her home for snake hiding spots, sparking reactions on social media

A Nigerian woman, Peace Ajuma Abuh, discovered a large scorpion in her compound while inspecting her home for holes where snakes might be hiding, in the wake of singer Ifunanya Nwangene’s recent death from a snakebite.

Abuh, a concerned mother, recorded a video showing how she dealt with the scorpion using a stone, prompting widespread discussion on social media.

She explained that her inspection was motivated by heightened anxiety about snakes following the death of the 26-year-old singer.

Social media users reacted with a mix of advice and personal stories.

Chinyere Anthony described using charcoal and raw onions after a scorpion sting, while Juliet Awase recounted a similar encounter with a large scorpion near her children.

Others advised fumigating the compound and sealing holes to prevent future encounters.
