Wema Bank launches upgraded ALAT app with voice banking, Tap and Pay, and uptime prediction, enhancing speed, intelligence, and reliability

Wema Bank has unveiled an upgraded version of its flagship digital banking platform, ALAT by Wema, introducing intelligent features designed to enhance speed, convenience, and reliability for customers.

Tagged ALAT: The Evolution, the app now includes voice banking, Tap and Pay for contactless transactions, and predictive uptime features that anticipate service availability.

The platform allows customers to perform banking tasks using natural voice commands, improving accessibility while streamlining everyday transactions.

Announcing the launch, Wema Bank Managing Director and CEO, Mr. Moruf Oseni, said, “ALAT: The Evolution is more than an upgrade. It demonstrates our commitment to redefining digital banking in Africa. By understanding the future of banking and listening closely to our customers, we have created a platform that is smart, intelligent, and dependable.”

Existing users can update the app via the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, retaining their account information and transaction history. New customers can onboard seamlessly by downloading the app and following the in-app setup process.

Speaking on the technology behind the upgrade, Chief Digital Officer, Mr. Olusegun Adeniyi, added, “With ALAT: The Evolution, we are delivering a platform built on powerful technology that responds intelligently to customer needs. By integrating voice banking, contactless payments, and predictive reliability, we are enhancing both functionality and the overall banking experience.”
