Late ACP Odulawa (rtd)

Former governor of Ogun State and senator representing Ogun East District at the national assembly, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, is mourning the loss of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Lamidi Odulawa (rtd).

In a statement made available to us, Daniel expressed his deep sadness over the passing of his trusted ally and friend.

ACP Lamidi Odulawa, who played a pivotal role in supervising the security arrangements during Otunba Daniel’s pre-election campaign back in 2001, as well as during the election itself, had demonstrated unwavering commitment and dedication to ensuring the safety and welfare of the former governor during his political journey.

During Daniel’s pre-election campaign, Odulawa’s expertise in security matters was instrumental in maintaining order and safeguarding the entire campaign process. His professionalism and strategic approach to security arrangements undoubtedly played a vital role in enhancing the overall success of Daniel’s electoral campaign.

Following his victory in the election, Daniel appointed Odulawa as his Special Adviser on Security, highlighting the immense trust and confidence he had in his capabilities.

During his tenure, Odulawa continued to exhibit exemplary service, efficiently managing security matters in Ogun State and ensuring the safety of its residents.

The former governor extends his deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of ACP Odulawa.

The Statement reads:

I received the news of the demise of ACP Lamidi Odulawa, rtd with great shock and sadness.

I am particularly shocked because we spoke just a few weeks ago about political developments in our dear state, Ogun; and sad because I have lost a great and loyal lieutenant of a relationship that has spanned more than 30 years.

My entire political trajectory, before, during and after my service as the Governor of Ogun State featured late Lamidi Odulawa. During our pre-election campaign between 2001 up till the election, late Odulawa supervised some of our security arrangements while we were going round the nooks and crannies of Ogun State, traversing all 236 wards.

He eventually became my Special Adviser on Security when we had the opportunity to serve Ogun State as Governor due to the effective management of our activities security during the campaign.

Ever since, Lamidi Odulawa has remained one of the most loyal political associates, not only in Sagamu but also in the entire Remo land and Ogun State in general.

I honestly will miss him, especially his words of advice on a whole lot of issues, and I pray that God should grant him eternal rest in Aljanah.

Yeye and I quietly mourn his painful loss and we pray for the family that God should grant them the strength in this trying period.

His Exc, The Senator Otunba Engr Gbenga Daniel, FNSE, FAEng
