AFCON 2025 quarter-finals confirmed as Nigeria and Egypt join Senegal, Mali, Morocco, and Cameroon in last-eight stage of tournament in Morocco

The knockout phase of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco reaches its climax on Tuesday, with the final two quarter-finalists to be decided.

The remaining Round of 16 fixtures feature Algeria against DR Congo at 5 pm and defending champions Côte d’Ivoire facing Burkina Faso at 8 pm (WAT).

Six teams have already booked their places in the quarter-finals. Senegal was first to progress on Saturday, extending its unbeaten run by defeating Sudan. Mali followed later that day after edging Tunisia on penalties.

Hosts Morocco secured a quarter-final spot on Sunday with a narrow 1–0 win over Tanzania in Rabat, while Cameroon completed the day’s qualifiers with a dramatic 2–1 victory over South Africa.

On Monday, Egypt advanced after a 3–1 extra-time win over Benin, with Mohamed Salah scoring the decisive goal in the final seconds.

Nigeria also confirmed its quarter-final place, thrashing Mozambique 4–0 with Victor Osimhen netting a brace.

The results of Tuesday’s fixtures will finalise the quarter-final line-up, shaping the route to the AFCON 2025 final at Stade Prince Moulay Abdellah in Rabat on January 18.

  •  Mali vs Senegal – Friday, January 9
  •  Cameroon vs Morocco – Friday, January 9
  •  Egypt vs Winner of Côte d’Ivoire vs Burkina Faso – Saturday, January 10
  •  Nigeria vs Winner of Algeria vs DR Congo – Saturday, January 10
