Over 25 African countries present $3.09bn green investment opportunities at Africa Green Economy Summit 2026 in Cape Town, including renewable energy and nature-based projects

Green economy initiatives across Africa are seeking approximately $3.09 billion in funding as investors prepare to engage with a curated pipeline of climate solutions at the Africa Green Economy Summit (AGES) 2026, scheduled to take place in Cape Town.

The investment pipeline spans early-stage small and medium enterprises, expansion projects, and infrastructure opportunities in sectors including renewable energy, waste management, circular economy solutions, sustainable agriculture, the blue economy, and nature-based initiatives.

AGES aims to accelerate investments through focused pitch sessions, investor briefings, and one-to-one matchmaking designed to connect project founders with development finance institutions, commercial banks, venture funds, and specialist partners.

Financing structures are expected to include catalytic capital, blended finance, concessional funding, and structured risk-mitigation tools to unlock large-scale deployment of climate solutions.

Ms Elodie Ashdown, Investment Project Lead at VUKA Group, stated:

“AGES presents curated deal flow where catalytic investors can unlock both impact and return, from decentralised hydrogen manufacturing to circular industrial solutions and resilient food systems.

Now is the moment to mobilise blended capital and turn validated pilots into regional industries.”

Ms Amanda Ganca, Head of Investment at WESGRO, emphasised that African ecosystems are maturing:

“Investor interest is translating into tangible manufacturing prospects and skilled jobs across the Western Cape and beyond. Institutional and strategic investors must move from commitment to deployment and consider catalytic investments that accelerate manufacturing, job creation, and resilient systems across Africa.”

Expected participants include multilaterals, climate funds, commercial banks, asset managers, impact venture capital firms, and specialist sector partners, with funding matched to project maturity from pilot stage to commercial debt and equity.

The Africa Green Economy Summit is hosted by the African Union, with Sanlam Investments as Title Sponsor, Standard Bank as Gold Sponsor, and FSD Africa, Gautrain, and UNOPS as Silver Sponsors.
