Agege LGA Legislative Arm to write Governor Sanwo-Olu on chairman’s resignation
The legislative arm of Agege Local Government Area has announced the receipt of a resignation letter from the incumbent Executive Chairman of the Council, Alhaji Tunde Azeez, saying the correspondence would be
communicated to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Earlier on Wednesday, November 5, it was reported that Hon. Azeez, who embarked on a medical leave about two months ago, eventually resigned, citing his failing health. In his absence, the Vice Chairman, Hon.AbdulGaniyu Vinod Obasa, served as acting chairman.
At a meeting attended by all seven councillors, Hon. Haruna Adeshina, the leader of the legislative arm, acknowledged receipt of Azeez’s letter. He declared that the councillors unanimously commended the chairman’s decision to turn in his resignation letter to enable him to attend to his health.
“We commend Hon. Tunde Azeez profoundly for this decision to relinquish his chairmanship position and not hold on to power at the detriment of the development of our community,” the leader said.
He added that the final decision on the matter lay with Governor Sanwo-Olu.
“While AbdulGaniyu Vinod Obasa remains as the Acting Chairman of the Council, we are in the process of sending Hon Azeez’s resignation letter to our supervising ministry, the Ministry of Local Government, for onward transmission to Governor Sanwo-Olu for his consideration, in line with the provision of the constitution,” the Council leader stated.

Governor Dauda Lawal Commends Senator Yari’s Appointment as President Tinubu’s Campaign Council DG
The Executive Governor of Zamfara State, Governor Dauda Lawal has commended the appointment of Senator Abdul’aziz Yari Abubakar as the Director General of the Tinubu/Shettima 2027 Presidential Campaign Council, describing the decision as not only a good omen but also the right choice that will lead to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
Governor Lawal expressed sincere gratitude to President Tinubu for appointing one of Zamfara’s own, who is a former Governor and Senator representing Zamfara West, to lead the presidential campaign, noting that the appointment is a moment of pride for the state and will undoubtedly uplift the spirits and morale of all members of the All Progressives Congress while reinforcing their commitment to the party’s vision and objectives.
Governor Lawal further stated that with Senator Yari at the helm of the presidential campaign, the party is well positioned to convince voters and advance President Tinubu’s agenda, citing Yari’s leadership experience and organizational management skills as critical assets for the task ahead. Governor Lawal also congratulated former Zamfara Governors Ahmed Sani Yarima, Mahmuda Aliyu Shinkafi and Bello Matawalle for their appointments to vital roles within the Presidential Campaign Council, emphasizing that their experiences and leadership will undoubtedly contribute to the success of the presidential campaign and further strengthen the party’s efforts as all stakeholders work towards ensuring President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
