Bauchi guard killing arrest as police detain four siblings over alleged attack that led to the death of a private security guard in Jama’are

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested four siblings over their alleged involvement in the killing of a private security guard during an attack on a farm in Jama’are Local Government Area.

Police spokesperson SP Nafiu Habib confirmed the arrests in a statement on Wednesday, noting that the incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, March 15, 2026, when hunters alerted authorities to a violent attack at a farm belonging to Idris Waziri Kwamawa.

According to the police, a patrol team led by the Divisional Police Officer arrived at the scene and discovered that one guard, Bello Bura, 40, had been killed, while two others, Sani Hussaini, 32, and Gidado Mohammed, 32, sustained injuries and were rushed to hospital for treatment.

Medical personnel later confirmed the death of Bello Bura, whose body was released to his family for Islamic burial rites.

The police initially detained six suspects in connection with the incident, but four siblings are now being held for alleged culpable homicide.

The suspects were identified as Chidawa Ahmadu, 25; Adamu Ahmadu, 20; Usman Ahmadu, 15; and Yusuf Ahmadu, 22, all residents of Bediri village in Jama’are LGA.

Authorities also recovered three cutlasses, two sticks and a torchlight from the suspects as part of ongoing investigations.

Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, urged residents of the state to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements promptly to security agencies, reaffirming the command’s commitment to maintaining law and order.

The investigation is ongoing.
