Bernardo Silva, 31, announced the decision in a heartfelt message shared on Instagram, reflecting on his time at Manchester City and the legacy he believes the team has built during one of the most dominant eras in English football history.

The Portuguese midfielder joined Manchester City from AS Monaco in 2017 and has since become one of the defining figures of the Pep Guardiola era, registering 76 goals and 77 assists in 451 appearances across all competitions.

His departure marks the end of a trophy-laden chapter that includes six Premier League titles, the historic Treble in the 2022–23 season, and multiple domestic triumphs, including a standout Centurions campaign in 2017–18 and a domestic quadruple in 2018–19.

Bernardo Silva Manchester City exit comes shortly after he was appointed club captain following Kevin De Bruyne’s departure last season, further underlining his leadership role within the squad during a transitional period.

In his farewell message, Silva described the journey as unforgettable, highlighting the collective achievements of the squad while paying tribute to supporters for their unwavering backing.

“What we won and achieved together is a legacy that will forever be cherished in my heart,” he wrote, referencing the club’s major successes, including multiple league titles and the Champions League triumph.

He added that he hoped fans felt pride in his performances, stating that he arrived as a player and will leave as “a Manchester City supporter for life,” urging continued support for the current squad.
