Funke Akindele’s “Behind The Scenes” becomes highest-grossing Nollywood film, earning over $300,000 in North America and N2.2 billion in Africa


Actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has set a new box office milestone with her 2025 film *Behind The Scenes*, grossing over $111,256 in Canada and $190,249 in North America.

The film has become the highest-grossing Nollywood release, pushing Akindele’s cumulative earnings in Nigeria and Ghana to over N2.2 billion.

In an Instagram statement, Akindele expressed her gratitude to fans across Canada, the United States, Nigeria, and Ghana, attributing the success to God’s mercy and her fans’ unwavering support.

She wrote: “I’m honestly overwhelmed with gratitude, and I don’t take any of this for granted. To my FANmily in Nigeria and Ghana, thank you for always standing with me. You inspire me, push me, and remind me why I do this.”

The filmmaker also thanked international audiences, adding, “Canada, wow… thank you! In just three days, you showed *Behind The Scenes* so much love. USA, your support has been incredible, and it truly touches my heart.”

Akindele concluded by reflecting on her journey: “This teaches that while hard work, consistency, and growth are important, it is truly God’s mercy and your unwavering love that make everything come together. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for riding this journey with me. I’m forever grateful.”
