Portable sparks online debate after claiming he is bigger than Fela Kuti, amid ongoing Wizkid and Seun Kuti feud in Nigerian music

Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, ignited fresh online reactions on Wednesday after boldly comparing himself to Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.

The statement came amid the ongoing feud between senior artistes Wizkid and Seun Kuti.

In a viral video circulating on social media, the Zazoo Zeh crooner insisted that no artist in Nigeria surpasses him.

“I’m the newborn Fela. If you say you’re bigger than Fela, then I’m bigger than you. Nobody blow reach me,” Portable declared with his characteristic bravado.

While he did not mention any names, many fans interpreted the remarks as a subtle reference to the ongoing debate surrounding Wizkid, Seun Kuti, and Fela’s legacy.

The clip quickly trended, sparking a wave of reactions across Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok.

Portable’s remarks follow his recent release from police custody, which came after a public altercation with his baby mama, Ashabi Simple.

During the incident, he was reportedly taken to the station and charged, with video footage of him in tears later circulating online.

Since his release, Portable has been seen engaging with fans and performing at events, where he debuted a new look, cutting his hair to give a throwback vibe.

At one show, he took the microphone from another artiste mid-performance, drawing cheers from the crowd.

Social media users responded with mixed opinions. @Omotoyobola commented on his boldness, while @WaterDsg debated his status relative to Wizkid.

Others criticised the singer for courting attention amid personal controversies.

Portable’s baby mama, Honey Berry, has previously accused him of abuse during her pregnancy and alleged violence toward his first wife, Bewaji.
