Ebonyi elders, under the auspices of Ebonyi Elders Council (EEC), have described the infrastructural projects embarked by the administration of Gov. Dave Umahi of Ebonyi as monumental and legendary.
The group led by Chief Benjamin Okah at a news conference on Tuesday in Abakaliki said that members embarked on an inspection tour to different sites of the projects and were thrilled by the quality of work done.
He added that members of the council after touring the projects sites were marveled at what was on the ground, adding that they were convinced that Umahi was the leader Nigerians really needed to reposition the country.
He said that the governor had done so much in spite of the meager resources accruing to the state monthly from the federation account.
Okah noted that some of the projects had been completed while some sites visited were at various levels of completion, adding that the projects would enhance the social and economic lives of the people.
He said that the council inspected the International Airport at Ezza South Local Government Area, the Shopping Mall in Abakaliki, the New Government House, the Inyere Bridge in Afikpo South, the King David University of Medical Sciences, Uburu, among others.
He added that the elders also inspected 11 out of the 17 flyovers being built by Umahi, where three of the flyovers had been completed and several concrete paved roads built by the governor.
He disclosed that members of the council would start consultations with other states, leaders and other stakeholders to realise the Umahi 2023 project.
“Ebonyi Elders Council wish to commend very highly the efforts of His Excellency, Gov. Umahi in developing the state within this short time.
“It is also our belief that Umahi has done creditably well in budgeting, infrastructure, human capital, youth and women empowerment among others,” the group said.
Okah noted that the group after the projects inspection and assessment of its impact on the social and economic growth of the state were convinced that Umahi possessed what it requires to lead Nigeria and transform the country’s economy.
“To this end, we have deemed it expedient and most important to present His Excellency, Gov. Umahi to the people of Nigeria for the Office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, come May 2023.
“We make this statement confidently, bearing in mind his track record, his belief in the oneness of Nigeria, his
de-tribalised disposition on national issues.
“His monumental achievements in areas of agriculture, education, commerce, industry, infrastructure, education and human capital development also speak volume of his achievements.
