Group Cries Out Over Alleged Failed Sponsored Attack On Aregbesola

Published

on

A political group in Osun State, the Progressives Minded Forum has cried out over alleged attempted government sponsored attack on the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, on Monday, 14 March, 2022 in Osogbo, Osun State.
According to a statement signed by Sunday Oriowo, Coordinator, PMF, the attack was not  violent, unlike the previous one where the convoy of the Minister was attacked by political hoodlums who made attempt on Aregbesola’s life at Orisunmibare, Osogbo.
The Monday failed attacks, according to Oriowo, was a malicious civil action sponsored by some aides to Governor Gboyega Oyetola.
“We believed these government officials were acting on behalf of the governor, who is determined to carry on his bitter politics against his benefactor, Ogbeni Rauf  Aregbesola. The first civil action failed why the second did not get the desired attention,” he said.
Oriowo disclosed that the first malicious action sponsored by the government against the Minister was the mobilization of some people who were disguise as pensioners in the state to protest against the minister during the commissioning of the 72-unit Federal Mortgage Housing Estate in Abere. But the plan failed because security agents had been duly informed ahead.
He revealed that  the information leaked out when the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Mr Jamiu Olawumi, was confidently telling some people on WhatsApp platforms on Sunday evening that “pensioners will welcome Aregbesola tomorrow.
“The information was processed and it was discovered that the government had paid some people to disguise as pensioners and protest against the former Governor of the State of Osun. Security agents were duly informed and the plan was thwarted”.
Having failed in the first plan, the PMF coordinator said the government activated its second plan by engaging ‘The Masterminds’, a group known for its hypocrisy, money-driven opinion and financially induced press conferences, to launch attack on the Minister, in a desperate bid to discredit his official assignment in Osogbo.
“It is important to note that The Masterminds is a group of four or five disgruntled elements who are willing tools in the hand of the government. No wonder the PDP described them as group of people with inglorious activities and followers of many mushroom CSOs with which they used to dupe political parties, governments and unsuspecting individuals,” the statement said.
The procured group, he said, called selected journalists to a press conference on Monday, 14 March, 2022, where one Wasiu Oyedokun-Alli read out a script prepared for him by one of top media aide to Governor Oyetola.
The group, as usual, shamefully raised issue on the debt profile of the state, accusing Aregbesola of plunging the state into debt which was responsible for the minus allocation to the state from FAAC. The group asked Governor Oyetola to address the people of the state and tell them the kind of government he inherited from Aregbesola.
“May we as stakeholders in Osun State ask Governor Oyetola to tell the people the debt profile of the state when he took over power in 2018, the repayment method and projects that the loans were expended on. The Governor should please tell the people of the state how much the state is earning from Internally Generated Revenue (IGR),” the statement said.
Dr Wale Bolorunduro, former Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning of the state had written: “But we know the total loan deduction at the inception of Oyetola administration was N2.4 billion. With completion of conventional bond (1st tranche) in July 2019, it fell to N1.8bn and by April 2019, it fell to N1.5bn, after the completion of Sukuk bond. I can autograph this figure, any day and anywhere. Data don’t tell lies. Therefore, anything significantly above this must be “other deductions” attributable completely to Oyetola’s administration and which must be exposed.”
“Mr Governor sir, members of the public would like to know “other deductions” which put the state into negative in the February allocation. The people will also like to know how you have been funding the little projects you have embarked upon since all your claim is ‘there is no money in the state.’ We recall that Mr Governor was the Chairman of Debt Management Board, the fact and figure of the debt profile of Osun is with him. The Governor should speak as requested by the deluded Masterminds.
“Besides, it is pathetic that a supposed objective group would close its eye to the nondisclosure of N11.9 billion refund to the Osun State government on Federal Government project executed by Aregbesola, but rather continue to blame the former governor for the debt. May we ask the self-styled group why it has refused to talk on the assets left behind by the Aregbesola’s administration that have increased the IGR of the state.
“The Masterminds should ask Oyetola why the projects he inherited have been fallen into ruins under him. The group should genuinely serve the interest of the people by asking why social programmes like Osun Ambulance Service and O’Clean have not been functioning well under Oyetola.
“The general public should ask The Masterminds why it has refused to speak on the insecurity in the state, in the face of the incessant killings, cult clashes and violent thuggery activities that have taken over the state. The Mastermind should explain why it has refused to issue a press release on the death of OAU student, the cult clashes in Ilesa and Osogbo, the violence in Ede, armed robbery and ritual killings in Ile-Ife.
“We note that members of The Masterminds cannot raise voice against the Oyetola’s administration because it is their ‘pot of soup’. The group is procured by the government to continue attacking Aregbesola, but the more the attacks come, the more the popularity of the Minister. The general public should know that The Mastermind is Oyetola’s sponsored group and nothing serious could come out of it”.

Why Otunba Gbenga Daniel’s Image Has Been On The Rise

Published

At the recent 60th birthday of his wife, Yeye Olufunke Daniel, a few weeks back, many were surprised at how Senator (Otunba) Gbenga Daniel was able to pull a mix of politicians from all the parties, to the party. Although, he is a valued member of APC, politicians from the PDP, Labour and other parties attended. His colleagues at the Senate all showed up at the party held at
Balmoral Event Centre at The Sheraton, Ikeja, Lagos. Members of the House of Reps were in ample attendance. It was a mixture of all the who- is-who in the 2 Chambers. A lot of former Governors attended. And many of the big politicians across the country gathered to honour one of their own, OGD.
Yes, it was a colourful birthday, but it sent strong signals to many politicians about the political strength of OGD.inner caucus. He is the Finance Minister & Co-ordinating Minister of the Economy to represent him at the Birthday. He also delivered a beautiful birthday message meant for both the celebrant and her husband.
That OGD is a powerful politician from the South West is pretty obvious. He has scaled and survived all the land mines thrown his way over the last 25 years, since his days as governor. One thing he has going for him, is his mastery of politics and politicking.
When he was in PDP, he was also quite influential so much so that he vied for the Chairmanship of the party. That made him travel round the country several times over, during which he built alliances across the Niger and Up North. When he handled Abubakar Atiku’s Campaign a few years back, he again engaged in marathon journeys across the 36 states of the federation. With the result that today, he has friends and political associates across Nigeria
Otunba Justus Olugbenga Daniel is an accomplished Engineer, a consummate politician and a quintessential Manager of Man and Resources. He is now The Senator
representing the Ogun East Senatorial District. He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers; the Institute of Directors, Nigeria; the Nigerian Institute of Mechanical Engineering; and the Academy of Engineering. He was the Founder/Chairman, Kresta Laurel Limited (KLL) Lagos, an
Engineering firm that specializes in elevators, power systems, overhead travelling cranes and hoists which has remained a leader in its area of competence. He was a two-term Executive Governor of Oguns State between 2003 and 2011. Born on 6th April, 1956 into the family of the Most Reverend Adebola Daniel of Makun, Sagamu and late Madam
Olaitan Daniel of Omu-Ijebu, Otunba Daniel, brilliant, audacious and intuitive as a College Boy, attended the famous Baptist Boys High School (BBHS), Abeokuta, the School of Basic Studies at The Polytechnic, Ibadan and later studied Engineering at the University of Lagos. He further earned a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Lagos and subsequently attended the Lagos Business School for an executive programme. Otunba Daniel cut his professional teeth with Metal Construction (West Africa) Limited. He later worked with H.F. Schroeder (West Africa) Limited, Lagos where he served as the General Manager and later, Deputy Managing Director making him the first African to rise to that position in the history of the company’s operations. Kresta Laurel Limited is the foremost and the first ISO 9001 certified lift company in Nigeria. It is also the authorized distributor of KONE elevators; one of the biggest elevator makers in the world.
Otunba Daniel’s resolved to plough back into the society inspired him to go into public service through a not-for-profit organisation, the Gateway Front Foundation (GFF) which has, over the years impacted lives of the people positively, Otunba Gbenga Daniel contested and won the 2003 and 2007 Governorship elections in Ogun State, under which he signed “A Contract with the People” with a commitment to improve the living conditions of many by awakening the sleeping

WHY IS ODUNMBAKU BABA ETO’S NAME ON EVERY LIP?  – By Sesan Lamuye, A Political Analyst

Published

on

By

Cardinal James Omolaja Odunmbaku, the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) cleric and political engineer, is one of a kind who stands in a unique class of his own.
His types don’t happen too commonly. Infact, in our clime, he is a rarity, to have one person clothed in celestial and terrestial robes so fittingly.
Only few of his peers can honestly say they don’t envy his sartorial elegance whenever he appears in his ecumenical garments. And when he sheds that, to adorn the political regalia, he’s also a people’s delight.
Few of his type readily come to mind anywhere – in Africa or in any continent. I think of Bishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa and, elegantly speaking, Archbishop Makarios of Cyprus who ruled from both the pulpit and the polity in his life time.
Odunmbaku, better known as “Baba Eto”, is a mortal, but given the extraordinary gift of the garb and demonstrable style that is uniquely his own, he’s fast assuming the status of an indispensable human specie.
His type acquire larger than life status that is bound to attract positivity and negativity.
Those who are enamoured of him present to the world a cult-like image of him. To them, he can do no wrong. One such person, before the satanic instinct in man, reared its ugly head in him, was so fanatical of the man, Eto, he registered some of his personal vehicles “Aremo”, for which he used to tell those who cared to know, that he was “heir-apparent” to Eto. Today, that person is singing new tunes, as if his new listeners cannot decipher sychophancy and crass opportunism in his new drumbeats.
Another was said to have appeared at a political interview panel where, when asked what credentials she had to seek a position, she matter-of-factly told the panelists “Eto”. And when repeatedly asked what qualifications did she have to think she was fit for the job, she retorted: ” Eto ! Eto !! Eto !!!
That secured the job for her !
Such a person is bound to attract envy, jealousy and disdain, dislike, or even hatred to himself. That is the fate of Baba Eto !
There must be something extra going for the “priestly-politico” that the talent-discoverer, otherwise known as Bola Ahmed Tinubu, identified him to drive his gubernatorial campaign in Lagos State; and has ever since held on to him so fanatically that he has solely led the campaign of other guber candidates like Babatunde Raji Fashola, Akunwunmi Ambode and Babajide Sanwoolu to roaring successes.
If beneficiaries of Baba Eto’s gifts turn round to paint scurrilous pictures of the man, such people can only be consigned to the dustbin in which immortal Chief Obafemi Awolowo put those he described as ingrates of his large-ness of heart. As the late sage declared: ” There’s no escape for those who deny benefits”
Let the person without any blemish come out and cast the first stone. If we put aside belly-aching, jealousy and such-like vices, you cannot encounter Odunmbaku, Baba Eto, on the pulpit or the political rostrum and not doff your hats for this quintessential orator, mobiliser and professor of political mobilisation.
If some see him negatively from the positive binoculars with which Tinubu and many more view Baba Eto, then such minority must be wearing blurry blinkers in their faces.
