In a resolute stand for democracy and the voice of the people, APC stakeholders in the Akoko North East/North West Federal Constituency issue a stern warning against the looming threat of imposition in the forthcoming bye-election. Our collective commitment to the principles of democracy compels us to address the unsettling activities of Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the outgoing representative and current Minister of Interior.
Recent developments have raised grave concerns about Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo’s alleged attempts to unduly influence and manipulate the electoral process. His purported statements of having orchestrated the party’s delegate list and influencing key figures in the party hierarchy are disconcerting, posing a direct threat to the democratic fabric we hold dear.Among several statements credited to Hon. Bunmi Tunji Ojo are as follows:1. He claim to have the National Chairman of All Progressives Congress under his control, having given him a sum of 250,000USD for his office upkeep and 400 bags of rice as Christmas and New year package.2. He also claim to have bought over the All Progressives Congress Ondo state Chairman and that whatever he wishes will be the bidding of the state Chairman. 3. He claim to have submitted his prepared delegates list for the upcoming bye-election primary.4. He claim to have nominated the officials that will conduct both the delegate Congress and the primary election to the national secretariat and that there is nothing anybody can do to change it.
As loyal members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), we recall the struggles faced by our esteemed President during the last party primary election, when people like Hon. Bunmi Tunji Ojo worked accidiously for the then Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. It is imperative to learn from history, for our unity as a party is paramount. We reject any form of imposition and interference that undermines the democratic rights of party members in choosing their representatives.
Our democracy thrives when the will of the people prevails over individual interests. The reported actions of Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, if unchecked, have the potential to erode the very foundation of our party’s democratic values. We must remember that the strength of the APC lies in the diversity of its members and their ability to express their political will without fear or favor.
We, the APC stakeholders in Akoko North East/North West Federal Constituency, call on our dear President and the national leadership of our great party to intervene swiftly. Let justice prevail, and let the true spirit of democracy guide our actions. We stand united against any attempt to impose delegates, and we urge all party members to remain vigilant, resolute, and committed to the principles that bind us together.
Together, we shall overcome any challenge that threatens the democratic essence of our great party
