Supporters of suspended Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan are making their presence felt in Kogi State, as they prepare for her highly anticipated homecoming rally, despite a ban on public gatherings enforced by Governor Usman Ododo.

The tension surrounding the event escalated further this week, as images surfaced of fervent supporters taking to the streets to show their unwavering support for the suspended lawmaker.

The Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaye, reiterated the government’s stance on Monday, warning that the rally, which is set to take place during the Sallah celebrations, is in direct violation of the state’s ban on political gatherings.

Dantawaye called on Akpoti-Uduaghan to cancel the rally in light of the restrictions imposed by the state government.

However, Akpoti-Uduaghan’s supporters are undeterred by the official ban. Photos taken on Tuesday, April 1, show people holding placards in solidarity with the suspended senator.

One sign read, “Welcome home, worthy daughter of Ebiraland,” while another stated, “The people of Adavi are solidly behind you.

” The images reflect the passion of her loyalists in the Kogi Central Senatorial District, where she enjoys considerable backing.

This show of support comes amid rising political tensions in Kogi State, with Akpoti-Uduaghan’s supporters seemingly willing to challenge the government’s directive in a bid to publicly express their allegiance to the suspended senator.

The situation has added fuel to the already charged political atmosphere in the state, as the scheduled rally marks a critical moment in the ongoing political developments surrounding Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension.

Earlier reports indicated that the Kogi Local Government chair had even imposed a curfew ahead of Natasha’s planned visit, further increasing the pressure surrounding the rally.
