Taraba commissioner warns against WAEC malpractice, urging principals and supervisors to ensure a credible 2026 examination process

The Taraba State Commissioner for Secondary, Technical and Vocational Education, Dr. Augustina Godwin, has issued a firm warning to school principals, invigilators and supervisors to ensure a malpractice-free conduct of the 2026 West African Examinations Council examinations across the state.

Taraba sends stern warning over WAEC malpractice was delivered during a sensitisation meeting held on Saturday at the Government Technical and Training School, Jalingo, with education stakeholders drawn from Lau, Karim Lamido, Jalingo and Ardo-Kola Local Government Areas.

Dr. Godwin emphasised the need for discipline, professionalism and integrity in the administration of examinations, stressing that the credibility of the education system must be protected at all costs.

She reaffirmed the commitment of the Taraba State Government under Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas to improving educational standards and restoring public confidence in examination processes.

“Taraba State must continue to stand out in academic excellence through hard work and credibility. We must collectively ensure zero malpractice during the conduct of WAEC examinations,” she stated.

The commissioner further warned that any official or school administrator found engaging in examination malpractice would face strict consequences, urging full compliance with WAEC guidelines.

Taraba WAEC malpractice warning also underscored ongoing efforts by the state to strengthen accountability within the education sector ahead of the 2026 examination period.

In his remarks, the WAEC Branch Controller in Taraba commended Governor Kefas for his support to the education sector, noting that he had cleared all WAEC-related fees for 2026 candidates, easing financial pressure on parents.

He also praised the governor for donating a utility vehicle to the WAEC office and providing additional support aimed at improving examination operations in the state.

The sensitisation programme was attended by education officials and examination supervisors from across participating local government areas, reinforcing a coordinated push for a credible examination process.
