The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the incident and announced the arrest of seven suspects in connection with the crime.

According to eyewitness accounts, the student was heading towards the back gate of the institution when he was accosted by armed men who shot him at close range.

On Tuesday at about 3 pm, a distress call was received at Sabo Division that a suspected cultist was allegedly shot dead by a group of suspected rival cult members in the Yaba area.

Students reported panic on campus following the shooting. Police investigations revealed that the deceased was likely armed himself, as a firearm and a bullet were reportedly recovered from him by the assailants.

While the Yabatech spokesperson claimed the incident occurred at a nearby lounge, the Lagos State Police spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the victim was shot by rival cult members.

He stated that four rounds of live ammunition and charms were recovered from the deceased.

This incident follows a reported similar shooting on the school premises the previous week and is linked to ongoing cult rivalry in the area.
